a) Starting the month on a downswing, which hurts my motivation
b) Having finals
c) Going on spring break, and not playing on spring break
The last two of those I knew about when I set the goal. After the downswing (and recovery), I decided not to play before finals and just prepare for them. Planning to play on vacation was probably a dumb idea from the start.
So overall for the month, I was down about $1000-1500 in tournies, and I made about $500 in fpps. I also received a refund from Stars for about $600 for a some tournies I had registered for but had never popped up for me, so I basically sat out the whole time. I went back over most of my playing history to find the tournies I missed, since apparently they offer this as a one time refund. So that would put down $500 or so for the month. That is until the end of the month... On the last day of vacation, I started the Supernova freeroll about 30 minutes late (with a slight hangover) and pulled off a 2nd place performance.

Dear NW Star,
You finished the tournament in 2nd place. A $9,000.00 award has been credited to your Real Money account.
That puts me at a much more respectable $8500 or so for the month. I also concierged this chair, which I paid way too much for but is really awesome.

I'll give the 30,000 VPPs and 2000 tournaments goal another try this month.
